Where to travel within the U.S.?
I'm currently living in the Midwest after relocating for work. I haven't taken a true vacation in several years and am desperately in need of a fun, relaxing trip that won't break the bank. I'm planning to meet up with one of my best friends, but she'll only be able to stay for three days max. (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday), so I'm thinking about planning a week long trip and having her join me for the days that she can.
The problem is that I'm really not sure where to go, especially since I'll be flying solo for at least part of the trip (24F for context). One thing I've considered is meeting up with another friend on the west coast for a bit, and then meeting my best friend in Colorado since she has a friend we could stay with there. But since I'd need to find accommodations for the first part of the trip, plus multiple flights, I'm afraid that still might end up being pretty pricey (flying out of the Midwest is so expensive!)
I don't exactly have a set budget, but I'd really love to get as much bang for the buck as possible while still getting to visit somewhere new (most of my continental travel has been around the south and D.C.) I'm hoping to plan this for the end of April/beginning of May, but my dates are pretty flexible. I'm a fan of cities, mountains, beaches, etc. I enjoy good food and drinks, nature, sightseeing, museums, etc.
TLDR: Ideally I'm looking for somewhere:
- a bit warmer (or at least not colder)
- relatively cheap (or free!) events/attractions/stuff to do
- car rental not needed
- friendly/fun for solo travelers (24F)
Any suggestion are greatly appreciated!
