Spur of the moment trip to Germany? Questions
Okay so I think I have a good idea of whats happening but I want to run it by people who about traveling to Europe. This is my first international trip solo. My prior trips (Haiti and Japan) I had someone else do all the arrangements for me.
I am an American citizen with a valid passport. I have quit my bad job at a startup and before I start my amazing new job, I thought, screw it I want to stop putting it off and go to Germany!
The usual questions: Visas, paperwork etc. The websites seem to imply that as an American in good standing I only need my passport, and maybe a bank statement? That is Not applying for a visa / permission before hand?? Before I hit buy on there 1500 dollar plane tickets I want some re-assurance..
Second, I am looking at Iceland air, or SAS. Iceland has better times. However the layover in Iceland has me concerned. I would have 1 hour to get to my next flight, but if it's anything like my flight from Haiti to Miami, I could easily spend an hour + in immigration? Is there immigration specifically in Iceland, and if so how long is it usually? (hour seems cutting it close for any international flying though.. but the prices are really screwing me with the spur of the moment-ness)
