Simple backpack and footwear considerations
6'6 male travelling in SEA/Oceania for 4-5 months looking for a good backpack (Kora/Japan/Taiwan/Vietnam/Thailand/Myanmar/Malaysia/Philippines/Indonesia/AUS/NZ are all potential destinations). I was eyeing up a couple of the Tortuga ones around 30-35L. Would this be a reasonable size? Looking for something simple (minimal compartments) that ideally has a laptop pocket.
My other consideration was whether I need multiple pairs of footwear. I'm definitely going to bring a pair of Chaco's or Teva's but was wondering if it's reasonable to completely drop running shoes from the packing list. I sense this COULD potentially be problematic with regards to hiking and/or nicer restaurants/bars. Does anyone have any experience with this?
