Please report: Easter in Europe
If you were a European city for Easter last weekend (or really any year), please comment about what it was like! I will likely be in Europe over Easter next year, and I know Easter tends to be a much bigger holiday there than in the US. However, despite my searching, I can’t find a useful guide on Easter in Europe, so I’m turning to Reddit.
Here some things I would love to learn from your comments:
- where (city/country) were you?
- do you think this is fairly standard for that country?
- which days were official holidays?
- what places (restaurants, museums, banks, etc.) were closed/open? Were there special hours?
- was public transit affected, and if so, how?
- was it crowded?
- is it good for Catholic-related tourism at that time? Is it good for other types of tourism at that time?
- would you recommend visiting that city for Easter? Would you recommend it for solo travel or only for groups?
- anything else that you think a potential tourist should know!
I believe Orthodox Christian countries celebrate Easter this coming weekend, so if you were in one of those countries, I would love to hear about differences in the country on both weekends!
