Hey team,

Looking for some Malaysia advice! Itinerary:

  • 5 nights langkawi
  • 4 nights panang
  • 1 night Ipoh
  • 1 night Cameron Highlands
  • 3 nights Kuala Lumpur

First question - would you recommend an Australian to drive from Penang to KL via Ipoh and Cameron Highlands? My understanding is that it's the same side of the road as us, however I'm not sure about highway driving and traffic in these parts?

Second question - what are your thoughts on Genting Highlands? Is it ideal for solo travellers, or more of a family/kids getaway? I fear it's a bit of a tourist trap.

Third question - George Town Penang looks great, but should I also consider spending a couple of nights in Batu Ferringhi by the beach?

Fourth question - I'm really into hiking, so if you had to pick the two or three best routes in or near the above itinerary, what would you recommend?
