Hello fellow people, I'm looking into doing some hiking next month for a couple weeks in Kazakhstan (near Almaty) and Kyrgyzstan (near Bishkek). I will not have a car. I guess I have two questions.

  1. Does anyone have any long dayhike recommendations for this area? Taking into account that there will probably still be snow in higher places, or at least that's what I'm assuming... I'm a very experienced solo hiker, in good shape, very comfortable in the mountains. Anything with good views is good for me.

  2. Obviously these countries aren't on the main backpacking trail... I realize I'm not going to Antarctica, but I'm expecting there to be much less tourist infrastructure than I'm used to (Europe). How difficult is it to get by without the local language? Are there other issues I'm not considering?
