Have any of you found a good way/tool to keep track of your travel plans?

I'm trying to plan a 4 month trip to Australia and SE Asia, and I'm mostly just using an excel spreadsheet to keep track of where I think I'll be each day. I'll definitely need to book some flights/hotels in advance, but also want to leave plenty of days open to see where my trip takes me -- that's the main reason I'm planning to do this solo. Any advice for keeping it all organized?
