I am doing my first Euro Trip this April/May. Tips&Tricks for the Countries I am visiting?
This was a very last minute plan! As it was contingent on some professional and educational aspects of my life.
I will leave on the coming Monday 29/04/2019 to 22/05/2019.
I am looking for travel specific tips (and any places to see and activities to do that should NOT be missed), relating to the following countries I am traveling to:
Paris - 29/04/2019 - 03/05/2019
Porto - 03/05/2019 - 05/05/2019 (reach on the 3rd at 9:10am, so I am counting the 3rd as a full day should be enough to cover Porto)
Lisbon - 05/05/2019 - 12/05/2019
Rome - 12/05/2019 - 17/05/2019
Amsterdam - 17/05/2019 - 22/05/2019
Interests - Reasonably priced food : restaurants, cafes, food stalls. Edit: I should add I am currently on a gluten free and lactose free diet (as it has really eased my symptoms of acid reflux). Outdoors: I am a beginner hiker so would be interested in doing any trails that last a day or half a day. Portugal seems like a good place to do it. I am also very interested in politics and history and the law. I am considering visiting the Hague in the Netherlands to see the International Criminal Court. Not sure if they take on visitors though. Anyone ever visited? I definitely want to see Anne Frank's home and possibly the Louvre. That should be booked online in advance right?
Also I have an international drivers license so it would be cool to drive from Porto to Lisbon preferably with other people to help be on the look out as I'm not familiar with roads in Portugal. However I am only used to driving automatic cars.
Side Trips - Interested in doing day trips from Lisbon. I am considering extending my stay in Porto (and reducing my stay in Lisbon) to do a trip in the Duoro Valley. But is it worth it? Considering the multitude of places to see around Lisbon?
My friend recommended from Amsterdam to go to Utrecht or Liedon or to Kuekonhof to see tulips as apparently it's still in season.
Hostels - I plan to stay in Hostels only. Any recommendations of where to stay in the above cities would be much appreciated. I do like drinking/partying/socializing. Oh I should add that I'm a fan of deephouse/techno. But I don't want to be hungover everyday. I want to do things and explore with other people hopefully.
Flights - I will have to book everything last minute. Any good websites that offer cheap flights a few days traveling? But I have booked the flight from home country - Paris, Amsterdam- home country. I'm on a Schengen visa so those are the most important flights to book at the moment.
Sim - Best carrier to get a sim to use throughout Schengen? Data plan plus local calling just in case.
Any Scams in the countries I am travelling to that I should be aware off? Don't want to get ripped off at any point.
