How have you navigated uncertainty while travelling long-term?
Hi r/solotravel! I'm [26F, Canadian] currently solo travelling around New Zealand before finding work and taking advantage of my working holiday visa. I've been on the road for two months so far, and am having the time of my life. I did want to see if this sub had any advice regarding navigating uncertainty during long-term travel, though.
Now that I've started to think about finding work and settling in somewhere, I am struggling to be 'present' during my day-to-day adventuring, and am finding my thoughts are consumed by the questions of where I will live and where I will be working. On top of this, I had a fling with a local which has turned into something more, and I really don't know how to factor that into my decisions about where to live and work. I'm a little bit burnt out from camping and living out of my car for two months and so I'm planning to get a private room on AirBnB for a week just to have some space and hopefully this will help me clear my head, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the decisions to be made and it is not as much fun as it used to be when I was just travelling aimlessly.
Have any of you dealt with this kind of uncertainty? Any strategies for dealing with it?
