I’m planning a six week trip through the western side of South America, culminating with the solar eclipse in July. My itinerary for Peru is almost finished, but I’ve got one weird personal constraint I need help with.

I have a crippling phobia of caterpillars.

It’s a strange phobia I’ve had since a kid, and I can’t quite figure out where it’s from. All other bugs are fine: I’m totally chill with spiders, worms, centipedes, etc. Just ... no caterpillars.

Realistically, how inevitable is interacting with the fuzzy creepy crawlers, especially if I do Machu Picchu or Iquitos?
