Good spots for a long weekend in Mexico?

Tickets to Mexico are really cheap for spring break, and I'm thinking of heading down south for a long weekend by the beach. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to go anywhere too interesting; would have to be pretty close to an airport, etc. I'd only be able to manage maybe 4 days, so I don't have time for 9 hour bus rides out of an airport.

Any recommendations for somewhere accessible to airports, relaxing, etc? I've had some acquaintances go to Puerto Vallarta, but they're the party/dancing nonstop crowd. I'd to refer a more chill vibe, but hey any chance to travel is appreciated. Is there anything to do in PV other than drink? Eg are the beaches worth it, enough activities to keep busy? Or would you recommend somewhere else?
