Deciding Between 3 Options for Mid-June Travel
Note: I posted yesterday soliciting feedback but didn't provide enough detail so it was removed. Luckily, I've narrowed down my choices and looking for feedback if any of these stand out to anyone as a good call!
Background
Coming from the U.S., traveling solo, time frame is 7-10 days mid-June. My travel interests are architecture (churches, libraries, etc.), wine/beer, and being able to walk around and explore without having to need a car. Budget is ~$100 day (don't mind staying cheap).
A strong preference is to avoid large crowds of tourists making it impossible to appreciate anything/breathe. Weather is less important.
Possible Destinations
Option 1: Stay in Bologna, explore the city, take day trips to Ravenna, Moden, Parma, etc.
Pros:
- Somewhat off the beaten path
- Heard it's very accessible in terms of walking/daytrip options
Cons:
- Never been to Italy so feel bad skipping Rome/Florence
- Most expensive option
Option 2: North/South Spain (Seville/Valencia and Bilbao [or tbd city])
Pros:
- Affordable
- Ticks the architecture box multiple times
Cons:
- Afternoons in Southern Spain in June can be brutal?
- I've been to Madrid so it's not a totally new country
Option 3: Baltics (Tallinn/Riga/[Vilnius?])
Pros:
- Affordable
- I like the idea that it's a bit different/off the beaten path
Cons:
- Travel time getting to/from going to be the most length
- From previous posts across the web seems to be cities people have strong love/hate relationships with
Option 4: Alternative Option Suggestions Welcome
Thank you!
