8 days in Vancouver / British Columbia
Hi team,
I’m considering moving to Vancouver for work, so I’ve booked an 8-day trip there in the first week of June to check it out to see if I like it. As I’ve never been to VC (or Canada!) I’ve got a couple of questions:
1) I want to spend at least a couple of days in the city itself (as that’s where I’d be potentially living and working), but I plan on spending the rest of it exploring the region / greater-BC. Are there any ‘must-see’ places I should head to?
2) I’m meeting up with friends in Seattle before heading up to VC myself. I’m planning on taking an Amtrak train over the border (mainly for the views and the ease of travelling) - is this a smart idea?
3) I’ve been looking at Airbnb’s to stay in around BC as I’m assuming hotels won’t be the best deal and hostels will be few and far between in the smaller towns. Am I right in taking that approach?
Any help or advice is very appreciated - I’m fizzing for the trip, but it’s a part of the world I don’t know much about!
Cheers :)
Background info: 26yo guy from New Zealand. Loves outdoors (keen hiker and skier) and exploring smaller towns when travelling. I’m planning on hiring a car for those days where I’m travelling around the region. Not on a shoestring budget so happy to pay to make the most out of the trip.
