2 weeks in South Spain- Need Itinerary ideas, Transport help & any other advice!!
Hello all!
I have a yoga retreat in South of Spain- Malaga, for a week. I'm super excited to relax, disconnect... ahhh. So I have a month off from work between contracts and I start my trip at the retreat, and then I decided to continue travelling Spain for the remainder of my time off. I planned for about two and a half weeks of solo travel.
Some things to note:
- I have solo traveled before (Amsterdam- totally recommend)
- I will only be carrying my 40L backpack (Opsrey- totally recommend also)
- I am looking at a budget of about 70 EUR a day which includes about 20 a night for hostels, 25-30 for food, and the rest for transpo/activites. This may be small but I understand that some days I'll need to spend more which will balance out the days that I don't need to spend a lot.
- I know zero Spanish... maybe a few words here and there. Will I be ok?
Some questions to consider before reading my itinerary:
- I will not be renting a car, and I want to avoid taxis. Will it be possible to get to these places on buses/trains?
- How safe are these areas?
- Am I spending too much time in certain places/ not enough?
- What places am I missing that are worth checking out / day trip?
- Food recommendations! I'm sure I can stroll into any restaurant and shove my face with great tapas but if there is a place that stuck out to you let me know!
- I am aware some of it is incomplete but I have already visited Grenada and Seville before so I'm allowing myself time to just kind of wander and explore without set plans, but again, open to any ideas.
- Also open to meet fellow solo travelers and explore together, if that's your thing.

May 4- Malaga
- Check in to hostel, Tapas, Alcazaba, Alcazaba hostel Terrace
May 5
- Picasso Museum- Free of charge on first Sunday
- Mirador de Gibralfaro (scenic spot/hike) - how do I get here?
- Playa de la Malagueta (Beach)
May 6-9 Malaga to Nerja
- Transport: MORNING 1 HOUR bus to NERJA
May 6
- Early bus from Malaga to Nerja
- Check into hostel 11am probably
- Wander around town, town square
- Cueva de Nerja
- Beach Casco antiguo de Nerja
- Dinner somewhere around beach
May 7
- Day trip to Frigilana (15min bus from Nerja)
- Wander around town
- Rooftop lunch
- Eat more food?
- Hike/ Park?
- Back to hostel
- Chillar - how do I get here?
May 8
- Beach day/ fitb
- Travel to Grenada at night
Wed May 8-12 Nerja to Grenada
- Hostel: find one
- Transport: bus to Grenada (1-2 hours)
- May 8: Alhamabra
May 9- 12 ????????
on May 12 Travel to Seville (3 hour bus from Grenada)
Wed May 12-15 Seville
12- 15 ?????
May 16 Fly out of Seville to home.
