What has been your most superfluous excuse to visit another country?
So I was hiking the other day around a major tourist part of my city. I walked in front of an older gentleman who commented on my backpack being full of pins.
I explained to him that I pick up pins and put them on my backpack because they mean something to me. I have pins from countries I've been in as well as my favourite bands at the moment.
He was amused by this that he wanted to show me a pin of a flag he was carrying in his bag. He asked if I knew what country the flag represented.
When I told him that it was South Korea, he was delighted that I knew something about his home country and insisted that I add this pin to my backpack's collection.
So now I have a pin of the South Korean flag on my backpack, but I've never been to South Korea.
Now I'm thinking of taking a trip to South Korea this year just so that I can tell myself that the pin on my backpack means I've been to that country.
So what has been your outlandish excuse to go to another country?
