I'm an American 26M who has done a few month-long trips but nothing for more than two months. I fantasize about taking 6-12 months off of work and doing whatever I want and going wherever I want.

HOWEVER, I have a really nice and prestigious job where I'm making a lot of money. I know I'll make that money back over the long run and I know that the job will be there for me when I get back (my boss loves me). However, it'd be a huge disruption in my life to take off. Should I take a year off? What did you guys do?
