Solotravel personally affects me
It isn't a bad thing per sé or at least I haven't evaluated personally but I am almost travelling for leisure always alone. Of all the 19 countries I have been to 17 were all alone by myself. Once I decided to take a trip with some acquaintances and I didn't have a good time. Since then I am all by myself.
I like to think I am a good conversationalist. My black travel journal has more stories about who I met during my travels than the places themselves. However, at the back of my mind I am pretty sure that I won't be meeting these people ever again (although often times numbers, emails or social media handles are exchanged after the rendevouz). This has become quite habitual for me since I am frequently flying most of the time for work and for leisure.
An acquaintance of mine pointed out that I have good conversational skills and tend to touch deeper subjects just because I do not know the other person personally and will share no sense of commitment to them now or ever; which makes the conversations sound great in the moment but hold no value on a personal level.
Also such lifestyle has me single for a decade and totally mistrusting on the aspect of travelling together with friends and family since I have made up my mind that it wont be fun and fulfilling as much as solo travel. I am just more selfish when it comes to exploring and leave no room for sharing experiences with someone else.
I fear on the longer run this will affect me or maybe I might be so used to solo travelling that this rant might just be a non-sensical.
TL;DR : just a rant about how solo travel is making me into solo-ist and doubt that it might start affecting my social skills.
