Solo Cyprus road trip?
I was wondering if you lovely people could weigh in on this. I'm an expat in my mid 20's from the UK living near Limassol, and although an experienced solo traveller elsewhere in the world I've been a bit nervous to do this because I'm unsure of whether a road trip and this island in itself is particularly solo traveller friendly. I'm introverted and in a long distance relationship so I'm not looking for party hostels and I don't care about Ayia Napa
I'm planning on driving along (in my own car registered to the Republic of Cyprus) the B7 route on a Friday afternoon and then the E704, stopping for a quick look and walk around at whatever spots look nice, Paphos forest and a cheeky look at the Kokkina exclave from as close as I can safely and legally get to it peek my interest. Then I'll carry on along that road, crossing the border into the north side (of which I've only been once across the Nicosia crossing on foot) stopping at Kyrenia, the edge of the pan handle, Famagusta and again wherever looks cool along the way. Then I'll either follow a similar route home or just get on the motorway at Nicosia depending on how I feel on the Sunday, I should be ok booking somewhere to stay short notice as it's not too heavy with tourists on the island yet.
Why am I avoiding so many cool places on the island? I've been to them in various day trips with friends, and the only one I could talk into this trip has since bailed on me, I like solitude and from what I've heard I can probably find it up north. I'm aware I'm covering mostly empty, sparsely populated land but that's kind of the point lol.
I guess I am deep down wanting you all to encourage me to do it, let me know what you think of this plan, good or bad, or if by pot luck you're solo travelling on this island and would like to join!
