This is something that happened to me literally yesterday.

I’m going to South America in 3 weeks. I’m also going to Chile and as a foreign national living in US, I need a tourist visa. I thought I’ll apply a couple weeks in advance and I should be fine. At this point, I should point out the fact that rest of the 4 countries gave me visa in 4 business days each. And looking up their consulate website, I didn’t see any problem with Chile.

Well turns out, I need to apply 10-12 weeks in advance. They’re ridiculously understaffed and slow.

Luckily, they are canceling visa requirements starting from April. Couldn’t be happier. I cried a little bit to celebrate!
