Making friends without staying in a hostel?
Hi everyone, I’m 20M from Toronto, Canada and I’m traveling alone to Japan at the end of April for 10 days. I want to do the things I’ve always wanted to do but I also really want to have a good time with others.
Everything I’ve checked online advises to stay in a hostel as the #1 way to make friends, but this being my first ever time away from home and family (scary) my parents want me to stay in a hotel rather than with strangers. I’m fine with it because I also need the alone time at the end of the day to recharge.
Also knowing 0% of the language (this is entirely my fault but I’ll be banging out Japanese learning apps until my trip) is there a way for me to make friends to do things like karaoke, eat out, play games, etc. with?
Ps. I eat halal so the #2 most popular suggestion besides hostels, of drinking at bars, won’t work for me ether. (As well as limits some of the restaurants and food I can eat)
Pss. I’ll be in Tokyo for a few days then go to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara.
