How to get from Cairo/Giza to Luxor/Aswan
I'm going to Egypt for the first time in May and will be traveling from the Cairo/Giza area to either Luxor or Aswan (not sure which one I'll go to first but I'm planning to go to both). Anyway I know I can fly, but I was hoping to save some money by taking the train. I've seen lots of things about how the 'tourist' sleeper train is pretty expensive and there are ways to get onto the normal day train for far cheaper either by booking online, buying the ticket on the train after departure, or asking someone to buy it for you. I just made an account on the Egyptian Rail website to check prices and it is looking like the day trains cost between 60 - 100 USD. Does this seem right? The things I had been reading show that it should cost as low as 12 USD. I was also thinking maybe take an overnight bus instead to save some money for about 20 USD, would that be worth it? Anyone have any experience? Thanks!
