Hi all, new to this sub. Decided to join as I'm graduating college this May and might be thinking of doing my first solo travel this summer, but moreso that I'm thinking about travelling as much as I can in my young 20s.

Have any of you ever had the goal of making lifelong friends while traveling? Do you go out of your way to try and make friends or does it kind of just happen? I almost feel like I would be a bit disappointed if I came back from my travels without having made any good friends, is this the wrong mindset/goal to have?

Finally, I hope some of you can share your stories as to how you made some close friends while travelling solo, how long you've been friends for, and how close you are now. Of course the level of detail only has to be what you're comfortable with sharing :)
