Female new to solo travel
Hi all! I've never traveled solo before, except for small weekend trips to other cities for interviews and I don't think that really counts. Anyways, although I wouldn't classify myself as an extrovert, I'm not super shy and am able to strike up a conversation with strangers. I do find the small talk with new people to be a little tiring though at times. My concern for traveling alone is mainly loneliness and safety. I'm usually not even capable of spending a day alone in my home city because I go crazy being in my own head. People always make it sound like it's very easy to meet people when solo traveling but I'm not sure that I believe that. Maybe it's because I've only been to cities that are not that solo travel friendly (Seattle, Austin) and it's not like I really stayed in a hostel. Also, it sounds like you need to be very flexible when traveling alone. On all of my other trips I plan a lot in advance to give me peace of mind. Making decisions kind of stresses me out so I like to do that before the actual trip by booking all of my flights, trains, airbnbs, and attraction tickets in advance. Do you have any advice for someone like me? Or am I hopeless?
