As a US citizen can I travel to China using a different passport?
Hey all,
Been planning a trip to China/SEA for the past couple of months. Leaving January 3rd.
I am a US born citizen, but I have been very lucky where, through my parents, I was able to obtain triple citizenship: US, UK, Malta.
The reason I'm asking about using either the UK or the Maltese passports is that I have a tour planned that does not allow me to use my US passport.
I have already called two Visa companies asking about this, and have an appointment with one next week. Both companies said that to use either the UK or Maltese passports I'd need proof of residency, aka a Green card or a Visa. I asked if rent/bills count as proof of residency and they said no.
That said, I still plan to ask them in person at my appointment and lay all my cards out. I have also read that people have done (what I thought was) exactly what I am trying to do, but not sure exactly how they did it or the avenues they took.
Do any of you have experience with this? Am I SOL? Can someone help point me towards the resources to help me figure this out? Should I just contact the Chinese Embassy? I have already contacted the tour again.
