20 years old and thinking about spending my summer across the country, help, advice, and tips?

Sooo this has only just became an idea of mine. Nothing is planned yet so maybe I’m being a little too idealistic and not realistic but this seems doable so far, hear me out! I lived in Washington state for a portion of my life as a child and ever since I had to move to Georgia in middle school I’ve missed the west coast so much. I’ve always been infatuated with nature and I just like the culture over there a bit more. I’m in college at the university of Georgia and I just got advised for engineering. I can graduate in 3 years with very reasonable schedules and all my summers off. Even if I wanted to try to graduate sooner or take summer classes it would be pointless bc many of my classes are pre reqs for others and only offered in the fall so no matter what I’ll probably graduate with a total of 5 years instead of 4. Now that I know my summer is free, my dream of traveling seems even closer to me. I’ve thought about it and it seems like financially it’s pretty doable. Here are the things I’ve considered that could be problems (but most don’t really seem to be a big deal)

  1. The only thing extra I can think I’d have to pay vs living here is maybe a slightly higher rent depending on where I go. Plus my gas to drive there (no big deal)

  2. This is the only major problem that I’m not sure where to begin with, how to choose where to live and how to choose a 2 month lease/sublease preferably with roommates bc cheaper.

  3. How to transport my stuff there (ex: bed and dresser), should I just rent a mini uhaul? Live on a blow up mattress for 2 months?

  4. Mentally I can be alone, I’ve never had many friends in my life so moving where I don’t know anyone doesn’t scare me. But I could see myself coming across other stressors but probably not a big deal.

  5. I would need to learn how to camp/ live out of my car for a couple days at a time if I want to travel on a budget. If I don’t learn this, I won’t be motivated to travel far.

Basically that’s all the problems I can think of! I feel as if I found an affordable place with a 2 month lease, that’s all I would need to make this plan doable and figure out the rest.
