Your thoughts on Patagonia Itineraries
After some research, I've come up with two possible itineraries to hit the high spots in Patagonia. This will be my first trip to South America. I'm a 30-year-old, solo, female who is planning to take this trip later in the year (Sept-Dec). I'll more than likely aim for hotels/B&Bs. I would love your input and critiques based on your experiences. Thank you in advance!
Option 1
Day 1: Fly into Buenos Aires
Day 2: spend day in city
Day 3: travel from Buenos Aires to El Chaltén
Day 4: hike in El Chaltén
Day 5: hike in morning in El Chalten, bus to El Calafate in afternoon.
Day 6: Ice hike Perito Moreno Glacier
Day 7: travel from El Chalten to Puerto Natales
Day 8: Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine
Day 9: hike to Las Torres base
Day 10: hike to Los Cuemos Refuge
Day 11: hike French Valley
Day 12: hike Grey Glacier take catamaran then bus back to Puerto Natales
Day 13: fly out of Puerto Natale
Is this way over zealous, especially for someone who likes to day hike but is not overly accustomed to overnight or super long trecks? Too much travel time, especially with the unpredictable weather?
Option 2
Day 1: Fly into Buenos Aires
Day 2: spend day in city
Day 3: travel from Buenos Aires to El Chaltén
Day 4: hike in El Chaltén
Day 5: hike in morning in El Chalten, bus to El Calafate in afternoon.
Day 6: Ice hike Perito Moreno Glacier
Day 7: travel from El Chalten to Puerto Natales
Day 8: Balmaceda & Serrano Glaciers (O'Higgins national park)
Day 9: bus from Puerto Natales to El Calafate
Day 10: fly from El Calafate to Ushuaia
Day 11: hike Tierra del Fuego
Day 12: Beagle channel tour
Day 13: fly out of Ushuaia
Again, too much time traveling? Is O'Higgins a better choice over Torress del Pain for a first timer?
