Worth traveling to Jerusalem from Jordan for just a few days?

Hi all, I am planning to take a week-long trip to Jordan this summer and am wondering about the feasibility of traveling to Jerusalem after, and whether it would be worthwhile to do so for only a few days. I should be able to get enough time off work to spend two or three full days in Jerusalem after, plus partial days (travel days).

I am very interested in the historical sites of Jerusalem and would love to make the most of an expensive plane ticket (from the US) and take advantage of all my vacation time. I would also love to try out true solo travel, albeit for only a short time (I will be traveling alone but with a tour in Jordan). However, it seems that crossing the border from Amman to Jerusalem is a bit of a lengthy ordeal, so I’m not sure it makes sense at this time.
