Will getting thicker tires help much with driving my sedan on rocky gravel roads?
Went to Death Valley this weekend and took my 2018 Accord with the stock 19" wheels there.
There were some roads that I had to drive on rocky gravel. It handled ok but I was concerned about punctures the entire time. Namely the roads to the Mobius Arch trail in Lone Pine. And then the path at the Devil's Golf course.
I've been thinking of getting 18" wheels with a thicker sidewall mainly for street ride comfort and weight savings. But now I may want to get 17" wheels so it'll have an even thicker sidewall to allow for lessening the psi for those rocky gravel roads.
Thoughts? Are thicker sidewall tires better or is the ground clearance more important?
