Hey guys,

I'll be on a work trip in Ho Chi Minh City from 1st of May. Before that, I have around a week of free time (I'll be missing out on Songkran though, bummer) I'd like to spend that week somewhere within a transport/cheap flight distance before I head to HCMC for work.

I have been to Vietnam, Thailand, parts of Cambodia and parts of Laos before but I'm not too fussy about revisiting some desitnations.

I was thinking of doing a week's worth of local homestay in the Mekong River area, however, I'm not completely sure about the weather/river situation of Mekong River during that time. I'm also juggling other ideas, such as going Luang Prabang and making my way down to Vientiane or visiting Yangon.

I'll take any and all recommendations!
