I am planning to fly from Myanmar to Chiang Mai around 8th April, but on further research Songkran is at the end of that week. I was originally thinking of spending 4/5 days in Chiang Mai then getting the slow boat across to Luang Prabang, but would it be worth staying the full week in Chiang Mai to be there for Songkran? Otherwise I could get the boat over the weekend and potentially be in Luang Prabang for Pi Mai (Songkran), although nervous about travelling over the holiday weekend! Grateful for any thoughts!
