Solo travelling in the same hostel/city for a few weeks? Anyone done this?

So I'm use to travelling in Asia and changing hostel every city/hostel every four or five days. I'm back in Europe (and despite being from the UK, have barely seen any European cities bar Berlin and Prague), but I've got the idea of going to a European city, picking a hostel, and just staying there for 3-5 weeks, and kinda just "live" there for a bit. Has anyone done anything like this? My plan is to hopefully get to know the hostel staff a bit and just chill out and get to know the city a bit. On one hand, I don't want to be known as that guy who just won't leave the hostel lol.
As an additional question, does anyone have any recommendations on what kinda city would be good for this in Europe? Having been to Prague, I couldn't imagine doing this there for example as it isn't that big of a city (I mean, you could of course). Somewhere not too much of a budget breaker, a lot to do, where it is quite chilled - I'm big into nightlife too. Thoughts?
