Should i book it?
Really need advice about travelling this summer!
I am going to be starting a full time job as a consultant soon. I have to pick a start date before this November. I really want to travel before this because I don't know when I'll have another chance (only 20 days of vacation per year) but I am worried about money. I have about $9000 saved up but feel uncomfortable spending all of it in case there is an emergency. Also I am nervous about travelling alone for so long because of safety and because I have never done this before. I also need to convince my mom.
Overall, I need help budgeting and any advice or encouragement you guys have about this. I feel like even though becoming a consultant is practical and is a good paying job, travel is where my passion is. Also, I really need help making sure I don't run out of money.
Here is my plan:
May 8-June 1: Western Europe with friends - apart from hostel and train which is already booked $1000 June 1-June 9: Mumbai ($280) June 9-July 7: Dehradun (I will be visiting a group of students I worked with last summer and so this part of the trip will be volunteer work) ($1200 for room and board) July 7-August 3: Thailand and a few days in Laos ($1000) August 3-August 29: Greece with my sister ($1500) August 30-September 5: UK for a friend's wedding ($150) September 5-30: Spain and Portugal ($1000)
Total budget including airfare: $8000
Some questions:
Should I stop in Turkey? How safe is it?
Do my budgets look right?
What about medical insurance? Where should I buy it?
