Mexico City or Guatemala or Both?

I’m planning my next trip. After hearing so many great things about Mexico City I’ve decided to head there. I am also interested in Guatemala.

I’m looking at 10-15 days total and I’ll be flying out from the US. Should I make those separate trips or hit them both? I typically don’t like to stay in the same city for too long, but it sounds like there’s a lot of options for Mexico City that other cities don’t have.

It looks like roundtrip is $200-240 for Mexico City to Guatemala City.

I guess the real question is, is Mexico City worth spending the whole trip in? I would also take a couple day trips to temples and a few of the places I’ve researched that can be reached by bus just a couple hours outside of the city...
