Adventure while minimizing danger?
I'm interested in doing something really adventurous, off the beaten path, where I can learn and explore without taking on *too* much risk.
I'm not really thinking of things like skydiving or bungee jumping. Some examples of what I've considered are temporarily living in a remote Buddhist monastery, visiting with a secluded Amazonian tribe, locating rare / near extinct animals, once-a-year (or even less frequent) festivals/events, etc. This isn't an exhaustive list, and I'm definitely open to other ideas that might be interesting, different, cultural, perspective-shifting, etc. How would you even begin to go about finding opportunities like this? I know some would be more plausible vs. others - for example, I don't know how you'd feasibly get in contact (safely) with a remote Amazonian tribe. But I figured I'd turn to Reddit to see if anyone had any ideas or suggested resources.
I understand that some of these things may only be possible in certain parts of the world, or at a certain price point, and I'm generally open on both levers for the right experience. I'll have 4 months of free-time from August-November and want to do something memorable that I can also learn/grow from and at minimum, get a good story out of.
Appreciate your thoughts!
