Leaving Venezuela... If I have 3 first names, can I use any of those to book intercontinental flight tickets?
Hey guys,
I am taking my first solo flight to another continent. I have flown before but never so far and never such an expensive ticket. In my passport there are 3 first names, let's imagine that they're Carlos Antonio Lucio. Until recently everyone was calling me Carlos and I would fly as Carlos LastName. But due to the political situation in Venezuela I don't want to be too conspicuous also I am starting a new life so I want to be known as Lucio LastName.
I asked a lawyer and it is perfectly legal for me to introduce myself to people as Lucio since it is legally one of my names. But he didn't know if airlines would accept me using it for flights.
As long as Lucio is on my passport, even if it is the last of my first/given names; will Iberia let me board and fly as Lucio LastName? I really don't want to fly as Carlos as it might get my family into trouble. By using Lucio I will not get flagged by the government database and the government will not know I have left as I am paying for the ticket in cash thus my family will be safe.
The airline is IBERIA from Caracas to Madrid if it matters.
I then have a connecting flight with Lufthansa to another place in Europe.
Thank you.
