I'm currently trying to plan a trip to Ireland but I have a couple of questions about travel health insurance.
So in a couple of months, I(19M) plan to travel to Ireland, from the US, for roughly 2-3 weeks. The first half I'll be staying with a few friends than then go solo for the other half. I'm trying to map everything out but I feel like I've hit a roadblock.
About a year ago I had my Medicaid taken away because the state I live in didn't expand. So ever since I haven't had any coverage. So now that this has come to my attention I've been doing research about it. I've come across 'travel health insurance'? I don't quite understand what it is. From what I understand its just temporary health insurance that I can use while I'm overseas? And if I pay the small price for the coverage, they'll be willing to cover all of the medical expenses in case of an emergency?
All of this sounds a little too good to be true considering how much medical bills/pricing costs. Now my question is, is all of this correct? Will I be eligible for this kind of coverage even though I'm not insured in the US?
If anyone has more information or resources about this, I would really appreciate the help, thanks.
