First solo adventure
So I am finally doing it. 4 years ago I joined the Navy in hopes of traveling the world and seeing new places but it turned out to be a failed plan. While I don't regret serving my time; it left me wanting more from this life. I recently got out, broke up with my girlfriend, moved back home and have been saving up for awhile now.
After a long time of trying to decide where to go and what to do, I just bought a ticket into Barcelona and a ticket out of London one month later. I have since then been making rough drafts of all the places I want to go and things I want to see. I had several different routes planned down to the minute of each day.
In the past few days though, I have been doing more research on people's experiences rather than where they went or what they did or some restaurant they ate at. And I found out that the best place to be (for me at least) is somewhere in between fully planned/prepared and completely blind.
So I've decided that I will have ideas of where I want to go but ultimately leave it up to fate. I'm not going to reserve any hostels ahead of time nor bus/train tickets. I'm going to do it all on the fly. I am going to a concert in Berlin half way through the trip, so half before will basically be me making my way from Barcelona to Berlin.
Reading all of your posts on this page have given me such inspiration and I'm so excited to finally take the plunge. Any tips or advice or kind words are gratefully appreciated. Thank you all!
