Will travel the world for a year: which are the calmest, most beautiful countryside spots on earth?

When I was younger I was so convinced that my life would be that of a vagabond, I had a very romantic idea of going out in the wilderness of the world and not become a 'chair-philosopher' so to say, that I despised growing up: people who were full of opinions but really didn't have any foundation for them (rare, right...), anyways, I got caught up in the business life when I started my own company and I "got stuck" in the way everyone else lived for 10 years, even though I promised myself not to. We're all walking contradictions some way or another. It was the inner journey I was looking for, what Thoreau talked about in Walden.

But finally I've decided to revisit the teenager in me without any preassure or regrets that I didn't do what my essence really wanted, and unfold this dream of mine.

I will travel the world for a year starting in a couple of months. I'll be reading a lot and I'm looking for beautiful, calm, non-touristic places (at least to some extent). My first thought of what this represented was Florence, Tuscany - that's the sort of spot I was thinking about, but I thought that you redditors might have some fantastic recommendations for my kind of travel.

I have already traveled to (only Europe):

  • Austria,
  • Belgium,
  • Cyprus,
  • Czech Republic,
  • Denmark,
  • France,
  • Germany,
  • Greece,
  • Hungary,
  • Italy,
  • Luxembourg,
  • Netherlands,
  • Poland,
  • Slovakia,
  • Slovenia,
  • Spain,
  • United Kingdom

Length 1 year or longer

Budget $30.000

Climate Mostly warm, but don't mind the contrast with cold places, but it has to have something else to it then, like the extremeness of Siberia or something to that affect :)

Interests:

Culture: really interested in philosophy - this will be my main thing - to really dive into the philosophers I've so far only scratched the surface and read a lot in general, visit museum and historical places, watch live music, archeology I also find fascinating

Language: would love to learn Spanish, I've started a bit but would like to immerse myself into a Spanish-speaking country that is not Spain. Also interested in Old Greek and Latin.

Musical instruments: I'm playing guitar and recently started learning Piano, I this is something I really want to become better at as well.

That's about it! Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try to clarify.

And also, if you have a suggestion on a better title of this post, please share.
