Hey everyone, I've just up and quit my job after not being allowed to take a vacation for the last two years. I'm planning to visit my family back home in San Clemente, California, but thought a road trip with no stress and no schedule would be good for me; I'd likely be taking several days to get there if there's enough interesting stops.

I don't have a particular route in mind and I don't need to be there by any certain day or time; I'm completely open. And I figure any stops I don't make on the way there I'd probably make on the way back.

Has anyone here made this journey and had any fun along the way? I'd be very interested in seeing what everyone has experienced. Even a detour of some nice twisty roads would appeal to me.
