[M/29] Logistics of driving in Spain?
I am less than a month away from a 2 month backpacking trip through Southern Europe. Ive planned the first part and have as much booked in advance as I want, I like the end to be much more open ended.
The first leg of my trip is a self-guided road trip through Southern Spain. Roughly:
Seville > Cordoba > Valencia > Alicante > Granada > Ronda > Cadiz > Back to Seville for my onward flight to italy.
Ill have between Feb 18th through March 4th through this section. I would like to be in Cadiz for Carnaval for the first weekend in March. Other than that everything is pretty open ended. I found a pretty good deal for a rental car through doyouspain.com.... have any of you heard of them and are they reliable? The rental with full insurance is 73 euros + fuel service charge. Im calculating roughly 100 euros in gas. Wont be driving in each city, just to get to each city.
My main concern is parking. Do most of these cities have free parking lots? Im not so much concerned with security because Ill never be leaving my backpack in the car. Ill be staying in hostels each night so if anything happens to the car ill be covered with the insurance.
Also with the above route should I add anything? Im hoping to get some nice weather days and would like to hike the sierra nevada mountains one day.
Ive never rented a car on a solo trip, i tend to travel on a shoestring but there was a lot I wanted to see and taking a bus to each city seemed to be too much of a hassle, plus this gives me endlessly more freedom.
I guess Im asking for all thoughts and concerns you guys may see with this plan.
Also, if anyone will be in any of these cities over this time, Im done to meet up and do some day trips together.
