Itinerary to Central Europe - Which place to skip? & Public Transport Q
I'm planning on going to Central Europe sometime in late March/Early April for two weeks. After reading posts here, I think I'm being too ambitious and should skip one of my destinations. Having never been, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction so I can get what I want out of this trip!
The best flight deals would put me in Berlin, Dresden, or Prague. I could also fly into one of these and leave from another to avoid extra travel time.
In theory, I had figured :
Berlin (3 days)
Krakow (3 days)
Budapest (3 days)
Prague (3 days)
The additional two days would be for travel between these cities, especially depending where I fly in/out of. I've researched Flixbus for possible shorter trips and RyanAir ($17 tickets) for longer ones.
- Should I skip Berlin or Budapest if this is too much? I have absolutely no interest in partying/drinking. I am interested in history/architecture/food. Would it be better to explore Germany as a whole some other time? Take Berlin out and make a day trip to Vienna/Bratislava from Budapest to Prague? Is Dresden worth stopping in either way?
- Obviously getting through airports take time, but is flying a better option for 7-8+ hour bus rides? As far as the bus goes, do you recommend overnight trips, early morning (6am-2p), or just whenever is available?
- My other big question is public transportation. My brother has been to most of these cities and told me he struggled with it because he doesn't speak the language. How difficult is it to figure out where you're going and once you're on it, how and when to get off?
