Foreigner Insurance for Private Motorhome Rental in America
G'day everyone!
A mate and I are coming to America to do an extended road-trip of the west coast. We plan to rent a Motorhome from a private individual and not a rental company.
The motorhome is currently listed on RV Share (A website where individuals such as myself can rent motorhomes direct from private individuals who own them). We were able to organise what we feel like a great deal, which is $7,700 for a 3 month period (1st July till 30th September) with unlimited Milage etc.
RV Share provides insurance which is $1,950 for the 3 month period plus a booking fee of $515. We feel this is a massive rip off and we could find a better insurance deal elsewhere. The owner of the motorhome has said he'd be happy to do a deal outside of the website to save us the insurance and booking costs.
I was hoping to find out if anyone knows of American insurance companies that would insure us. Information about us and the motorhome:
- Both 23 years old
- From Australia, so foreigners in America
- Will only be travelling in America and not Canada
- Motorhome is 2007 25ft C-Class motorhome
- We do not own it and would be renting it
- I have a few friends in America and could use their residential address for the insurance policy
