Hi everyone was hoping I could get your help.

I'm a 25M based in the UK and looking to do my first trip around Easter time (thinking for 1-2 weeks) but wanted some suggestions on places/countries to go around that time.

Interested in somewhere with lots of history, good drinking atmosphere, but also somewhere you can unwind/relax.

I've done some general research on the usual places (Vietnam, Thailand, Columbia etc) but wanted to ask those with more experience: Are there countries better for first time travelers than others? What are some underated places that get overlooked? Is it better to go 'closer to home' or further afield and why?

Budget is probably around £2000
