This summer I am set on going for a road trip across the country. I will start in the Northeast (around Boston) and I intend to make it to Redding, CA for a 1 or 2 day stay and then drive back.

I have several problems however: 1. I will be alone. 2. I have never done a road trip 3. I want to go to Zion but it is out of the way (I was considering the Badlands and Yellowstone instead. recommendations? Is Zion worth the detour? 4. I have no idea how much time or money to budget for this

My main motivation for making this trip is sort of inexplicable. It's like the call of the wild; I want to be 'out there'.
