Critique my 4-5 week itinerary for the UK and Ireland. May-June. 25M/USA
I'll be coming in/out on a round trip flight from London, so will have to end up back there eventually.
On a backpacker/hostel budget. Potentially staying with friends for a handful of the nights. Guessing somewhere in the vicinity of 2k USD for the whole trip.
I've been itching to travel here for a while to learn more about British/Irish history, culture, etc. (plus I love yall's accents.)
General interests include history, nightlife, cities, hiking, national parks, etc.
I would also like to spend at least a few nights staying in smaller towns that don't see much tourism. But I'm not really sure which to choose.
London- 3 nights (possibly staying with a friend)
Oxford- Day trip
Bath- 1 night (just to meet some friends)
Bristol- 2 nights (also to meet friends)
Birmingham- 2 nights (just seemed big and on the way, not sure much about it)
Liverpool/Manchester- 4~5 nights
From here I wanted to 2 or 3 nights somewhere in North England before moving up to Scotland.
Leeds? York? Sheffield? Newcastle?
Edinburgh- 3 nights
The Trossachs National Park OR Cairngorms National Park- 3 nights
Belfast- 1 night (to visit a friend)
Dublin- 3 nights
Cork- 2 nights
Killarney- 2 nights
Limerick/Shannon- 2 nights. Fly back to London for my flight home.
Would love any tips/suggestions, especially on hostels, travel methods, what to eat/see/drink, etc. Very open to changing up parts of the trip.
