I am moving from Florida to Seattle in middle of this month. I had planned to drive west to California and then north. To limit my time in the snow as I have not had much experience driving in it. I do have snowchains and practicing putting them on.

Now that I think more on it maybe I should drive a more direct route to see some more of the country and cut down on travel time. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience doing a similar trip at this time of year?
