Advice please - Algarve day trip from Lisbon?
Hey all!
I'm travelling solo to Portugal this fall. I would love to see the caves in Algarve, specifically the Benagil cave but I need help/advice with transportation. I'm aware this is quite a distance for a day trip (around 3h) but I am willing to make the trek.
I am not sure if this is wishful thinking - I do not want to stay overnight but want to get to Algarve as early as possible to avoid crowds (ideally 8-9am) I'm really going just to see the caves/Benagil and chill at the beach for a bit. Unfortunately I cannot find any bus or trains that leave early enough. Does anyone have any advice how I can make this possible with public transportation? Is there such thing as local drivers who drive tourists for a fee and if so where can I find them?
I am avoiding renting a car as I don't know how to drive manual. I may be open to renting an automatic if it is affordable but from research, it's expensive for a solo traveller with no one to split costs with. I've also read that it is quite stressful to drive in Lisbon and there are tolls. I'm not familiar with driving in another country (I'm from North America) so I'm not too comfortable with the idea.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)
TLDR: Looking for a way to get to Algarve from Lisbon early in the morning without staying overnight. Avoiding driving.
