Advice on early summer 2019 Eastern Europe plan? Recommendations please!
Hey guys,
I'm going back to Europe in May of this coming up summer, and it will be my first solo trip so I'm looking for some recommendations on several different things. I just bought my flight to Prague (May 21) so I'm all in on this now and super excited. I got a super good one way deal to Prague and the city I'm flying home from is still undecided. I'm 22M from California if that matters at all for the advice.
Rough Skeleton Plan for my Current Itinerary (Total trip will be between 30-40 days). First off, I'm still open to moving cities around/ in or out based on recommendations, but after doing a lot of research this is my current plan:
- Prague
- Krakow (Day trip to Auschwitz)
- Vienna
- Budapest
- Bucharest
- Athens
- Istanbul (reason I chose Athens -> Istanbul because all the flights home in my price range went from Athens -> Istanbul -> SFO so I would kind of just be doubling back).
I'm really looking for recommendations on hostels and specific activities within each city that I may not know about. I like to socialize and party so that is something I will take into consideration while I'm combing through HostelWorld.
Also, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but Istanbul is currently listed as Level 3 - Reconsider Travel on the US travel advisory site. Is it currently safe to visit? I will most likely only be staying in Istanbul.
I'm also having a little trouble finding an answer to this. For those of you who have traveled budget airlines within Europe, will the Osprey Farpoint 40L be allowed as a 'carry-on' based on its size or will I have to check it?
