8 days in Scottish Highlands - itinerary help
I [25F] am planning my first solo trip to the Scottish highlands in late May! I'm flying in and out of Inverness, and I've already booked a car rental to get around. I plan to spend the first day in Inverness so that I have some time to get over my jetlag before I do a lot of driving on the left side of the road (I'm coming from the US), but other than that I haven't really figured out where I want to go. I really want to spend time exploring some beautiful scenery and hiking, as well as some old buildings. I don't want a hectic vacation or to spend too much time hustling from one town to the next, so I'm planning to pick just one or two base locations to book lodging in to do most of my exploring from.
I'm considering just booking a place on Isle of Skye for the majority of my vacation and exploring as much as I can there for 6-7 days. However, my main question is this: are there any other must-see things in Scotland that I shouldn't miss out on that I should make time for?
Any other recommendations or advice are welcome!
