Solo Traveling has helped me so much!
Hi everyone,
But of a random post, but I just wanted to share my experience with solo traveling (and traveling out of the country) for the first time.
Just a bit of brief history about me; I'm a guy in his late 20's who grew up in a small town within rural Australia. I'm a little bit shy and introverted and as such the concept of running off to another country on my own was always quite terrifying. I honestly can't remember the last time I took so much as a holiday, it would have been at least 6 years I'm sure.
I went go into detail, but things were getting pretty rough for me personally back at home.
However after numerous convincing, I finally caved and booked a solo trip to New Zealand (pretty close to Australia but far enough for my first trip) and while the first couple of days were lonely, I've managed to really force myself out of my comfort zone and meet some amazing people. I've seen so much amazing scenery, and tonight for the first time in my life I've been invited out by three different groups of people I've met over the week! I have another huge tour tomorrow, I can't wait to see even more of this country.
It's not much but it means so much to me, I never really thought I could socialize and get along this week with people. This has been so great for my confidence, and it's killing me that I have to go back to Australia in a few days. There's still so much I want to do and see here.
I just hope I can take some of this positive energy back with me, all I can think about now is running off to Europe!
Has anyone else here had a similar experience? I'd love to hear any stories and advice you may have.
